Researchers at the University of Kentucky are conducting a study to determine the best method for collecting and growing Regulatory T-cells (or tregs) from a special type of blood sample called Leukapheresis. Tregs are white blood cells within your immune system that detect and respond to infections, like viruses or bacteria. Some tregs attack infected cells directly, while others help to coordinate an immune response.
 

By joining this study, participants can help improve the process for collecting and growing T-cells, specifically for transplant patients. Screening visits will take place at the UK Transplant Center. The Leukapheresis blood draw procedure will occur at the Apheresis Lab (Gill Heart Institute) at UK HealthCare.

You may be eligible to participate if you are 18 to 60 years old and:

• are NOT pregnant

• have NOT smoked in the past year

• DO NOT have cancer, diabetes, or an immune-related disease

Participants will be compensated for their time.
