Time variables- date of admission, length of stay, enrollment dates, member days, service dates, place of service, provider type, health plan indicator, geographic variables, drug variables.

Demographic Variables

Age of patient, age group, data type, patient year of birth, employee classification, employment status, population count, sex.

Clinical Variables

Admission type, diagnosis related group, discharge status, diagnosis codes (1-5), diagnosis principle, procedure principle, procedure codes (1-15), procedure group/modifier/type, revenue code

Financial Variables

Average wholesale price, COB, coinsurance, copayment, deductible, payments and net payments (hospital, physicians), facility bill type code.  


The UK IRB has approved the use of the de-identified database to researchers utilizing ONLY data from the claims data database. It is not to be linked with any other database.
