Cultivating the Next Generation of Translational Researchers
The Center for Clinical & Translational Science invites applications from faculty or senior staff interested in serving as facilitators to teach in the CCTS Faculty Mentor Training Workshops for the campus. The program is designed to strengthen mentoring capacity across UK and support the development of effective research and career mentoring practices.
Opportunity
Those selected will receive support from the CCTS to complete facilitator training through the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER), which certifies facilitators in Entering Mentoring, an evidence-based, interactive mentor training curriculum.
After completion of training, facilitators will join a team of institutional trainers who lead mentor development workshops for faculty mentors and promote a culture of mentoring excellence at UK.
CCTS Support
The CCTS will:
- Cover the cost of facilitator training
- Provide mentor training materials and resources
- Offer logistical and administrative support for mentor training sessions
Facilitator Expectations
Selected facilitators are expected to:
- Successfully complete the approved facilitator training program
- Facilitate faculty mentor training sessions at least two times per year (6-hour commitment each time)
- Participate in facilitator meetings and program evaluation activities, as requested
- Serve as champions for mentoring excellence within their departments and colleges
Eligibility
Applicants should:
- Be faculty or senior staff who are committed to enhancing effective mentoring practices
- Have experience mentoring faculty, trainees, students, or research staff
- Have demonstrated strong communication and group facilitation skills
- Secure support from their department or division leadership to participate
