Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet, an international network of researchers exploring ways to prevent and delay the progression of type 1 diabetes, is taking great strides for type 1 diabetes. When you get involved in TrialNet research, you become part of a worldwide team that is working to find a way to prevent type 1 diabetes.

TrialNet offers a blood test that can detect an increased risk for type 1 diabetes up to 10 years before symptoms appear.

Screening is the firs step in the pathway to prevention. Those at increased risk may be able to join research studies testing ways to prevent and delay the disease.

TrialNet screening is offered free of charge to relatives of people with type 1 diabetes. For this group, the chances of developing the disease are about 15 times greater than for those with no family history.
