Registration Open for 12th Annual CCTS Spring Conference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 14, 2017) – Registration is now open for the 12th Annual Center for Clinical and Translational Science Spring Conference, which will be held Thursday, March 30 at the Lexington Convention Center. The theme of this year's conference is "Clinical Trial Networks and Teams Science: Moving Discoveries to Interventions." There's no fee to attend, but participants should register by March 22.

The University of Kentucky's CCTS Annual Spring Conference is a multidisciplinary event that brings together faculty, staff, students and community partners along the continuum of clinical and translational research. The 2017 spring conference will be held in conjunction with the College of Dentistry Research Day, College of Engineering Biomedical Research Day, College of Health Sciences Research Day​, College of Nursing Scholarship Showcase, College of Public Health Research Day and UK MD/PhD Program Research Day.

This year's keynote speaker will be R. Kip Guy, Ph.D., dean of the UK College of Pharmacy, who will give a presentation titled,  "Discovery and Development of SJ733, a Novel Antimalarial Drug." The plenary session will be led by Anne Sales, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School and a research scientist for the Center for Clinical Management Research at the Veterans Affairs Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Her presentation will address "Implementation Science: Current State and Future Directions."

Breakout sessions at the conference will focus on multiple topics including:

  • Addressing Health Disparities in Clinical Trials
  • Building Teams for Clinical Research: The Multi- Disciplinary Value Program (MVP)
  • Implementation Science Research Roundtable with Anne Sales
  • Research Registries: Are They Right for You?
  • Technology Commercialization and Entrepreneurship at UK...A Game Changer

CCTS Scholar presentations and poster sessions will be held in the afternoon. Last year's conference featured 320 podium and poster presentations.
