Researchers at the University of Kentucky are inviting you to participate in a
research study for COVID-19 community based testing. Researchers are looking for
both symptomatic and asymptomatic volunteers. We hope to determine the rate of infection in communities across Kentucky and detect viral spread in real time. This will inform public health guidance that helps us re-open. Participants will be informed of their ongoing COVID-19 infection status and the Kentucky Department of Public Health will also be notified.
Participants will partake in a two-month study with a survey, nasal swabs and blood draws for each visit. Vitals (temp, pulse) will also be taken. Participants will be asked to report past or present symptoms. Sample collection will be conducted at an independent pharmacy and consists of: 5 nasal swabs on weeks 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 to detect active infection; 3 blood draws (venous and/or finger prick) on weeks 0, 4, 8 to detect viral immunity.
Participants will be compensated for each visit. $25 visit includes: survey, blood draw, nasal swab, pulse ox, and temperature. $5 visit includes: survey, nasal swab, pulse ox, and temp.
