CR-DOC - MISSION STATEMENT |
| Clinical and translational research blends the research skills & interests of multidisciplinary teams of investigators with those individuals who consent to participate in studies. |
The success of the clinical and translational research enterprise also requires a number of key human and infrastructure resources that serve the needs of both investigators and participants. While collaboration among these infrastructure resources is critical, to truly transform clinical and translational research, a higher level of engagement among these units is necessary. Within the UK CCTS, the Clinical Research Development and Operations Center (CR-DOC) will establish a fully integrated, flexible, transdisciplinary unit that supports the proposed CCTS research transformations. It will build on the success of the |
General Clinical Research Center (GCRC), the UK Clinical Research Organization (UKCRO), and the Delta Dental of Kentucky Clinical Research Center (DDKCRC) & through transformative nature of the CCTS will break down barriers separating these individual units to better serve investigators and participants. In addition, the types of research supported will expand outside traditional mechanistic studies and clinical trials to include health services and community-based research. The CR-DOC focus on development and implementation of specific studies integrated with the activities of other key functions. Supporting key functions will operationalize their aims in large part within the operations of CR-DOC resources and will actively engage in helping the CCTS achieve all 4 CCTS goals. Accomplishing the proposed specific aims will allow the CR-DOC to enhance quality control & assurance plans, as well as to standardize for continual evaluation of performance. |
University of Kentucky Clinical Research Organization, (UKCRO) was established to promote and expand the UKCMC clinical research. The UKCRO is conveniently located in the Kentucky Clinic, which is adjacent to the University of Kentucky Hospital, this 3,985 square foot facility provides ample space to conduct outpatient trials and short-term pharmacokinetic studies. General Clinical Research Center (GCRC) occupies 4,344 square foot of space in the newly remodeled Research Inpatient Clinic on the 5 floor of the hospital. These two centers along with the Delta Dental of Kentucky Clinical Research Center (DDKCRC) will build on the past success to become all encompassing service center -The Clinical Research Development and Operations Center (CR-DOC) through the Center for Clinical Translational Science (CCTS). These facilities resources are available to all clinical investigators throughout the University. |
