Veterans Administration Research Resources

The administrative staff for the VA Medical Center is dedicated to facilitating research studies. Research started in 1973 and has continued to increase with over 100 active projects today.

Research areas of focus are Biomedical Laboratory Research and Development, Health Services Research and Development, Clinical Science Research and Development and Rehabilitation Research and Development. While the program is focused on VA-funded studies, it also facilitates Co-Op Studies, as well single-site industry studies. We continue to develop Clinical Research and Development Agreements with pharmaceutical companies, both big and small.

We are fully accredited by the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International. Our common-use rooms are equipped with counters, centrifuges, a FACScalibur System, a film processor and a Polymerase Chain Reaction thermal cycler.

For researchers' convenience, the staff is committed to timely processing of submissions. Our Research and Development Committee gives submissions to subcommittees, so that those who review a study will have the scientific or technological expertise required to get the study approved on the first submission. Please use the Contact Information to reach specific individuals in our office who can help with a particular aspect of study submission.

It is researchers' dedication to furthering the research for our veterans, along with our desire to assist researchers in all regulatory requirements, that allows both of us to work toward one common goal.
