Morning Workshop: "Demystifying the Grant Review Process – Maximizing the Chances for Success" presented by C. William Balke, MD, Associate Provost for Clinical and Translational Science, and Stephen W. Wyatt, DMD, MPH, Dean, College of Public Health, University of Kentucky.
Keynote Address: "Social Networking: A Critical Factor for Success in Biomedical Research" presented by Barbara Alving, MD, Director, National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), NIH.
The CTS Spring Conference has three primary objectives:
1) Enhance the training and career development of our students and faculty who are involved in clinical and translational research;
2) Promote the translational and collaborative clinical research activities at the University of Kentucky;
3) Recognize UK's outstanding research training mentors. Scholars are encouraged to nominate their outstanding research mentors for recognition using the Mentor Recognition Award Form.
This scientific-based conference is highly recommended for both mentors and trainees/scholars who are participating in clinical and translational research. C. William Balke, MD, Associate Provost for Clinical and Translational Science, and Stephen W. Wyatt, DMD, MPH, Dean, College of Public Health, will lead a morning workshop to examine the grant review process in order to inform strategies for initial grant development and grant revision in response to peer review. Barbara Alving, MD, Director, National Center for Research Resources (NCRR), will provide the Keynote Address on the role of social networking in biomedical research. Research conducted by CTS scholars will be presented orally and during the poster session; all presenters will receive oral and written feedback from senior faculty on presentation content and format. Representatives from organizations at the University of Kentucky that support clinical and translational science will be available to orient faculty and scholars to available services and to facilitate opportunities for future support.
