What is the Clinical Research Self-referral Database?

The UK Clinical Research Self-referral Database is for individuals who are interested in opportunities to participate in clinical research. This is a secure tool that helps match self-referred potential participants to eligible researchers and their studies at the University of Kentucky. The Self-referral Database will utilize safeguards to limit access to your information. Your contact information is kept confidential and used solely to inform you about clinical research studies conducted at the University of Kentucky. Please refer to Privacy Agreement for Self-referral Database for additional information.

Once you join or enroll your dependent in the Self-referral Database, your information becomes part of a potential participant pool based on the areas you select from the Therapeutic Areas dropdown list of potential research studies. Not all therapeutic areas will have current ongoing research studies, but studies may be available in the future.

How will your information be used?

This Self-referral Database allows you to be contacted by a UK researcher conducting a study, approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), on a topic of interest to you.

When a study opens: for recruitment in one of your selected therapeutic areas of interest, the CR-DOC database manager will send you an email with basic information about the study and the research investigator’s contact information.

If you respond "Yes": After receiving the researcher’s message through the CR-DOC database manager, you may respond by typing or clicking “Yes”. A “Yes” response will release your contact information to the researcher who may, in turn, contact you to share additional details about the study. If you are interested in joining the study, you will be asked to meet personally with the research investigator or study coordinator to discuss your participation. Please note that there is no guarantee that the researcher investigator will contact you regarding their study.

If you respond "No" OR you do not respond: If you respond by typing or clicking “No” or if the CR-DOC database manager does not receive a response from you, your contact information will not be shown to the researcher. However, you may still be contacted by the CR-DOC database manager in the future concerning research studies pertaining to your selected areas of interest.

You are not required to join a study: Remember that by joining UK Clinical Research Self-referral Database, you do not have to take part in any study and you may choose not to respond to the CR-DOC database manager or a researcher email at any time. You will be contacted yearly by the CR-DOC Database Manager to update or remove you or your dependents information.

Please note: You are always welcome to browse the Current Studies at the University of Kentucky at http://www.UKclinicalresearch.com and answer a research study advertisement for potential participants directly. Contact information for each study is found on each research study flyer
