REACH UK Partners

UK's Office of Health Research and Development and its composite rural health programs have defined the national standard for community outreach and include over 40 active programs with clinical and translational research activities that penetrate all 120 counties of the Commonwealth. Other than Wisconsin, Kentucky's programs and leadership have garnered more awards from the National Rural Health Association.

Key programs include an Cooperative Extension Service that is among the most effective in the nation and one that has a history of engagement in health promotion and education; Health Education through Extension Leadership, a community education program that represents a partnership between Extension and the health professions colleges; an Area Health Education Center program that has received national awards for innovation and effectiveness; a program for engaging health professions' community-based faculty at a level that is unequaled anywhere in the country.

In addition, the UK HealthCare enterprise provides regional services in a number of disciplines at locations throughout eastern Kentucky. This extensive outreach infrastructure fuels UK's aspirations to be a national leader in community engaged clinical and translational research and the dissemination of best practices.
