Murray State University
Murray State University, located in Murray in far western Kentucky, is one of the nation's best public universities, recognized by U.S.News & World Report as the South's best public master's university in its list of "Great Schools at a Great Price." With 10,156 undergraduate and graduate students, Murray attracts students who are seeking a great education in a personalized, college-town setting.
Research is essential to Murray State University's role as a nationally recognized, comprehensive university. Faculty in the College of Health Sciences and Human Services are involved in a wide variety of research efforts, including HIV/AIDS among African-American populations, asbestos and mesothelioma, exercise and cancer recovery, maternal exercise and health of the newborn, obesity, physical activity and self-efficacy in children, fibromyalgia in rural women, diabetes, hypertension and kidney disease.
As a partner to UK's CCTS, Murray offers access to a subject pool that would not normally be available to UK researchers. This is due both to geographic location and to Murray's commitment to working with UK in developing and implementing community-based translational research projects. In exchange, UK's CCTS will offer Murray faculty access to UK resources that will enhance their research capacity in rural areas of western Kentucky.
