AHEC Health Career Program - The AHECs provide programming with the goal of increasing the number of disadvantaged and underrepresented students who successfully pursue educational programs and careers in the health professions.

The Community Based Work Transition Program (CBWTP) is designed to provide a positive beginning in the world of work for special education students during their last two years of high school. It serves students having a range of disabilities who need personalized support for exploring potential careers, pursuing challenging work experiences and maintaining employment within their communities. The CBWTP is a cooperative effort between participating local school districts, the Kentucky Department of Education, the Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Kentucky Office for the Blind, and the Human Development Institute at the University of Kentucky.

Established in 1969, IHDI is a unit of the Office of the Executive Vice President for Research at the University of Kentucky and part of a nationwide network of University Centers for Excellence. The Centers were established by federal legislation to promote team-based approaches to provide services for individuals with disabilities and their families. Resources include Glossaries of Vocational and Special Education Terms, IEP Development Guidelines, Beyond High School Guide for Students with Disabilities, continuing education opportunities and more.

UK Appalachian & Minority Science Technology, Engineering & Mathematics Majors - AMSTEMM is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation and by the University of Kentucky. It is staffed by a number of professionals who are responsible for all aspects of the recruitment, retention, and graduation of STEM students from Appalachia and Minority backgrounds, as well as women STEM majors

UK teams with the Kentucky Community & Technology System and the Explorium Science Museum to offer opportunities for minority or underrepresented students to learn about medical science careers.
Kentucky Young Researchers Program - established in 1996-97, was originally designed to support the introduction of high school students to the excitement of research and discovery and to encourage the future enrollment of outstanding students at the University of Kentucky.
