Clinical Research Fiscal Compliance Training Series

The Clinical Research Fiscal Compliance Training series, a two-hour course, is offered every Wednesday from August 5th through September 9th, 2009 in K116 Kentucky Clinic. Clinical research coordinators, principal investigators, grant management staff, billing/charge staff and other clinical research study personnel are encouraged to attend sessions applicable to their responsibilities.

Children as Research Subjects: They’re not just small adult

Who decides about a child’s participation in research? How is risk interpreted in research with children? Can assent ever be waived? With a federal regulations, incentives, and the national emphasis on inclusion of children in human research, researchers need to be knowledgeable about the regulatory requirements and ethical issues in conducting research with children as subjects. ORI is sponsoring visiting expert, Bruce Gordon, MD, FAAP who will present on September 17th, 2009 at the UK Pediatric Grand Rounds and the CRDOC Clinical Research Update. The Rural Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Conference

The Rural Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Conference, Wednesday, September 30th, 2009, at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset, Kentucky, is for persons with spinal cord injury and their caregivers, healthcare providers, community partners, educators, and researchers to discuss current topics that impact persons with SCI.

The UK Human Research Protection Regional Conference will be held Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear national level speakers present on current issues and topics of interest to all members of the research community, including: challenges in enrolling minority populations; ethical concerns with paying research subjects; issues in enrolling decisionally impaired subjects; complexities of reviewing research involving personalized medicine; special ethical concerns for research coordinators; and models for IRB decision making. SoCRA Certification Exam

The Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) Certification Exam will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, Room 214, College of Nursing Building, from Noon to 4 p.m. SoCRA established the Certification Program for Clinical Research Professionals in order to create an internationally accepted level of knowledge, education, and experience by which clinical research professionals will be recognized by the medical research community. A SoCRA Certification application portfolio must be completed and submitted to SoCRA via mail or email by September 15, 2009.
