Research Compliance Coordination Committee
Because BRIC neither replaces existing resources nor has university-wide policy-making authority, communication and coordination with university authority as a whole is crucial. The Research Compliance Coordination Committee (RCCC) coordinates strategies for review of program priorities, responsibilities and challenges, and it monitors the scope, types and service levels of regulatory support to the entire UK research community. The RCCC also firmly anchors and provides visibility for BRIC within UK’s well-established matrix of resources for research oversight and protections.
The RCCC, comprising senior administrators with institutional regulatory responsibilities appointed by the UK Provost, meets at least quarterly and functions as a principal means to ensure appropriate action and institutional change in response to identified needs in regulatory and compliance areas.
In concert with RCCC, BRIC also addresses (1) privacy and confidentiality issues that impact biospecimen sampling and repositories, (2) the restructure of the electronic medical record system to facilitate conduct of clinical research, and (3) the integration of medical record data with the expanding biomedical informatics hierarchy.
By acting as an advocate for emerging regulatory priorities within the clinical and translational research enterprise, RCCC ensures the success of CCTS.
